hi, it is not my intention nor goal to do so but I was wondering if successful card counting can actually make you an above average living. Thanks for your time

  3. colin says:

Yes. Read Ben’s manifesto to hear his story.

  4. DCMike says:

I was wondering. When learning how to count can you practice with a video game?

  5. colin says:

Sure. Also, we’re almost done with an iPhone BJ training app.

Colin Ben, thanks for having this site! I have always dreamed of being a professional black jack player. I am looking at a way to supplement some income and love the fact that there is a way to beat the casinos. How long does it take to be an effective player ?
Also, how much is the BootCamp ?

    Thanks !

Hi i am finding this really interesting as i have had an interest in blackjack from an early age and other card games. Compared to the other websites i have looked at this is great and better than all of them. I am going to try and learn all i can from your website only problem is that well…… i am 15 :) .
    Thanx for the website

    Los,

Thanks for joining the site. How long it takes really depends on how seriously you take it, and how well you can focus and never let your guard down. Some people spend their whole lives “trying” to beat blackjack, but are either slackers or let their mind drift while their playing. But we’ve also seen people perfect the game in a month’s time. It depends on the person.

You can read more about the bootcamp here. It’s $1500, and coming up soon! Hope to see you there.

    Dear Ben and Collins,

It seems that you guys are legitimate professionals who make a lucrative income by playing/counting blackjack. I highly admire what you guys have to offer, and am very interested. Recently I was in Vegas both winning and losing in blackjack. Then it gave me this idea: I would like to win at least MOST of the time, but realistically speaking- even using basic strategy won’t guarantee that. I am currently a college student pursuing a career in teaching ESL or Literature. However, I am very interested in also making decent income by playing blackjack. This is not to say that I want to make thousands in weeks, but just hundreds will suffice my living. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

p.s- also please fill me in on details about the bootcamp program. I don’t have 1500 to blow at the moment, but would like to try sometime in the future if you guys are located in California =/

hi, guys! I’ve watched all of your videos and made ‘some’ money so I want to thank you and I’m wondering if I can help you with creating the army? by the way, I’m creating/expanding a BJ team and I’ve taught about 10 people how to count cards exactly how you taught me – use BS 100%, master deviations, house edge, EV, etc.

  14. Kinetic says:

Domagoj – congrats and good luck! Keep us posted in the Forums about your casino exploits!

  15. marshall says:

does anyone know how to view the video? because it wont let me watch it …cheers :)

  16. colin says:

    Marshall,

Huh. It’s working fine for me. What browser are you using?

  17. Josh says:

Hello awesome Blackjack people. First of all, I wanted to say thank you for all of the stuff on the website. Obviously, I understand that everything is not up there and to access all of the info I should join the forum which I plan I doing as soon as I memorize and practice basic strategy. (I am trying to follow your advice and learn that like the back of my hand before information overload). I did download you iPhone app to practice with. I just had a question about deviations and surrendering. Am I correct in assuming I should just learn the basic charts that are on the site and in the app and worry about the surrendering and the deviations after that? Also, in the forum are the surrender charts available? Also, in the forum I am assuming you will teach us how much to bet on any given hand with any given count? Sorry for all of the questions I am just very excited and ready to work hard. I just want to make sure I am putting my energy into the right things in the right order.

  18. colin says:

    Josh,

    1. You’re welcome!
    2. What do you think of the iPhone app?
    3. Start with Basic Strategy, then learn the deviation charts after Basic Strategy is 2nd nature (REALLY 2nd nature)
    4. Surrender strategy is at the bottom of each chart… free of charge, no membership necessary!
    5. Betting is the trickiest part of the game (not complicated to implement, but there’s lots of variables). There are videos on betting for paid members, as well as discussion in the forum about bet strategies, etc.
    6. Thanks for being a part of the site.

    -Colin

  19. Josh says:

    Colin,

Thanks so much for the quick response. I am working really hard on the basic strategy. I actually just went through the whole 6 decks without a mistake for the first time a few minutes ago. Going to put a lot more work in this week. I really like the app! The only thing I could not figure out (not that I need it yet) was how to get it to display the running counts and the true counts. In the mean time I am going to keep working on the basic strategy and get that down 100%. The only thing I was not sure about is insurance. Is that something I need to worry about as part of the basic strategy practice or just keep turning it down until I get into counting? Also, it turns out that the casino nearest me (River Casino outside chicago) does not offer surrender so I guess that is not an issue now. Also, they said they offer tables that hit on soft 17 and tables that don’t. Not sure what that’s about but I am assuming I should just use the basic strategy charts you have up first? Thanks again for the site! You guys are great. Colin for President!

  20. colin says:

    Josh,

There’s a little “i” in the bottom corner that brings you to the options menu. Within that menu, you can set it to show the hand total and running count, change the rules and number of decks, and lots of other stuff. Make sure you check it out.

It’s fine that they don’t offer surrender. Probably only 10-20% of casinos do (it adds about 20% to your EV if you can surrender.

Dealer Stands on Soft 17 (S17) is superior to Hit on Soft 17 (H17). Usually, they reserve S17 for the higher limit tables. But S17 is definitely better than H17. We play either game, depending on what each individual casino offers. But it’s important to know how the different rules effect your EV.
