Here’s the last part of Colin’s interview with Loudon Ofton.
Loudon Ofton is a highly successful card counter who has won more money than anyone else we have ever worked with. You can listen to the interview here, or through iTunes below.

i think play bj is better if you play with a team, not to play by yourself you cant bit against the casino.
Wow Great interview, I enjoy the stories of the down times and how He got through as well as the good! All of the Loudon Offton interview are just awesome and for all the right reasons. Colin really does it up right on this site. Was Loudon on the Church Team? Thanks
Charles,
Thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed the interview! We’ve got several more being edited, and more interviews being scheduled with pros, but current and former.
Yes, Loudon was on the Church Team. He was our winningest player, and has played since the Church Team disbanded.
Colin-
Could you guys PLEASE post a video in the video course about how to deal with idiotic players? I know it sounds simple: just ignore them and play your game.
But when these people are constantly cussing up a storm, saying how you made a bad play when you split 4′s against a 5 or 6, trying to convince the table to simply watch the flow of the cards, AND getting all bent out of shape when you wong out when the count is God-awful, it makes it tough to stay focused on the task at-hand.
What are your thoughts?
jluce13,
What I have said is “I’ll listen to Ed Thorp before I listen to anybody!” That usually shuts them up and gets some laughs from the table.
BTW one guy said to me “Ed Thorp is broke.” I just shook my head in amazement.
Good interview guys , funny part about the women holding or attempting to detain you while you wanted to leave the casino, lol
Great stories! I especially love the one about Foxwoods since I am a New Englander. You walked right into the web! The Stargazer casino high limit room is definitely non-card counter friendly. You would have been better off playing in the main high-limit rooms at MGM or Foxwoods.
Great interview! I understand Ben is no longer involved, is this true? Are you running the site Colin? Do you think blackjack is still a viable side profession?
SD Mule,
Ben is still involved, but not as involved as he was a couple years ago. We are both currently working on some software features for the site that we think will be really valuable to card counters. But he’s not as involved in the day-to-day stuff.
Yeah, I think blackjack is a viable side profession. We’ve always said that it’s a tough sole-source of income. That remains true. But there are lots of casinos you can generate positive EV at and make good money. The question is if you can:
1. Get your game perfect
2. Handle the financial swings
Hi Colin , If i learn to play card counting from you guys will the same thing happen to me also in getting kicked out or stopped on playing 21 like what happened /s to Louden Often ?? Thanks
Jaye,
Any legit card counter will get backed off at some point from some casinos. Loudon won close to a million dollars over 4 or 5 years, betting thousands per hand. According to a surveillance worker we befriended, he was considered “the most feared card counter in Vegas” a few years ago. So he is definitely on the extreme end of the spectrum. But any serious card counter will have to deal with backoffs along the way.
Hey Colin,
What did Loudon do so well that made Him the winningest player over Ben and Yourself and other Church players, Play longer, better cover, bigger spread? Also do You or Ben ever play anymore, or are Your playing days in the rear veiw mirror and if yes why? Thanks.
Charles,
Loudon played more, had more hustled, and thus, generated more EV.
I can’t really answer your second question. (=
How much did Loudon hit Foxwoods for? I’m impressed that they let LO play for so long.
Hey Guys!
Thanks for listening. Glad you are enjoying the tales. I hit Foxwoods once and only once. I knew my time there would be limited. I had been on a trip to AC that sort of fell apart and needed somewhere to go to pad my hours. I knew my chance of returning to Foxwoods was remote, so I decided to just hit it hard. I moved around a lot between all of the rooms, and got in almost a full day of play. I won about $50,000. They seemed to immediately begin tracking my play, but it took them all day to decide I was a card counter–which I appreciated vs. the quick and unsubstantiated actions in AC. They took their time to make the “right” decision (backoff). I remember the phone call that did me in and read between the lines that they had spent some time determining whether I was a winning player or not (in spite of my big win). –Loudon
