February Boot Camp Recap

Vegas Bootcamp Feb 2013

“It will change you in one way or another.”

No this person wasn’t talking about the newest zombie film. They were talking about the Blackjack Apprenticeship boot camp, and if you haven’t experienced one yet, you have no one to blame but yourself and those pesky zombies.

February, 2013 saw the most successful BJA boot camp to date. A dozen eager advantage players-in-waiting crowded into a suite overlooking the Las Vegas Strip for hands on training, dealing, tips, tricks, and bankroll coaching from the professionals. On hand were Colin and Ben, as well as BJA blogger Loudon Ofton, a handful of other advantage players, as well as a very special guest direct from the surveillance rooms of Las Vegas.

  • “If you’re on the cusp, you’ll know right away if this is the right path for you,” said another participant. “If you find you want to continue, you’ll know what to practice at home to play a perfect game.”

Ben and Colin made it clear from the outset that they were not out to convince everyone that they should pursue the kind of advantage play that the pair used to form a team and win millions from casinos. But rather they helped players identify exactly what they wanted out of blackjack, and helped them understand exactly what it takes to be a winning player.

  • “A Bootcamp will help you understand the concepts of card counting, but more importantly, it will also challenge your thought process on the reason you wish you learn this skill and by the end you will know if this is something you’re cut out for or not,” said another.

The surprise guest for the day was a recently retired but still very connected surveillance director who talked about exactly what is going on behind the black dome, what surveillance experts are routinely looking for, what throws them off the trail, and he answered questions from the group.

In fact, answering any and all questions from the group was the most oft- repeated goal for the day.

  • “Colin and Ben were very open about their experiences and willing to share their story. From the beginning they made it very clear that they were willing to answer any and all questions which indicated they were holding nothing back. After attending the boot camp I feel I now have all the information I need to establish a successful blackjack business.”

More boot camps are currently being planned. As always, if you or someone you know is interested in attending, the best opinion to seek is that of someone who has attended in the past. We offer a few of their quotes here, but you can find other attendees on the forum.

  • “I really enjoyed meeting Colin and the other experienced counters. I was surprised at the amount of valuable information I came away with. You learn things at the boot camp (little nuances) that you really wouldn’t be able to get from the website or even from a quick phone conversation. You would have to learn these things the hard way through experience and making mistakes…and that would cost a lot more than the what you pay for the boot camp.”
