    Hi there!

Just a short question. In this vid, you take money from the bank when you split. That couldn´t be correct ,right? Shouldn´t you take from ur own chips? or am i wrong?

    Great website btw!

  2. Martin says:

sry checked it again.. and u said from ur own chips. my bad.

  3. colin says:

Yeah, you’d use your chips, or buy in for more chips to split. He was just doing it really quick to show how splitting works.

  4. jacob says:

So if you get blackjack on a split it doesn’t count as blackjack right?

  5. colin says:

Yeah. A blackjack is only when your first 2 cards dealt are an Ace and a 10-value card.

  6. jacob says:

great, thank you very much colin

hey, I love this by the way. But I’m a bit confused, you said you can split the king and queen because they are not matching but that you cant split any if they are matching, so why did you split the 7? because thats matching
    thanks

If I get 4 cards is the dealer obligated to also get 4 cards

  9. colin says:

    Cinthia,
Nope. The dealer plays by their own rules regarless of the player’s decisions. The dealer must always hit until 17 and stand at or above 17 (the only exception is what the dealer does with a Soft 17 (A,6 or A,2,4 etc). Some casinos have the dealer Stand on a Soft 17, other casinos have the dealer Hit on a soft 17. But the dealer’s decisions have nothing to do with the player’s decisions.

    Natalie,
You can split the King and Queen because they are both a 10-value card. You can split any first 2 cards that are the same value. That’s why you can split 7,7 or 2,2, or whatever, as long as their value is the same. All 10′s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings are 10-value cards, so you can split not only 10,10 or Queen, Queen, but also 10, Queen or King, Jack.

Actually you can split Aces at several casinos in vegas more than one time (re-splitting) In other words if you get two aces, split them and get another, you can split up to 3 times, but only at some casinos.

  12. colin says:

    James,

Yeah, that’s exactly right. It adds about 10-20% to your EV to be able to resplit Aces, so definitely look for that.
