    Hey! at 2:50 the gambler stay’s a 16 vs the dealers 7.
That is wrong right? or are you playing someone that doesn’t know the basic stratagy with that hand? just asking. no offence!

  2. colin says:

Yeah, it was an example hand, and obviously the “gambler” didn’t play proper basic strategy.

There is something that I do not understand and which is not specified in the course : how do you know if the Ace is a 1 or a 11? If you can choose, how do you tell the dealer? Is there a sign to make?
    Thanks.

    Nicolas,

The Ace will be either a 1 or 11, whichever is better for you, until an 11 would cause you to bust.

Example: A, 7 against a 7. You chose to stand (because you have 8 or 18). The dealer flips a 10 as their under card. You would then have an 18, and beat the dealer.
But, if you have A,7 against a 10. You chose to hit, then get a 10. Now, the Ace would be counted as a 1, giving you 18, because otherwise you’d have 28 and bust.

i always get confused with this, how does the dealer play an ace? does he have to use it as an 11 or can he use as whatever? thanks oh and when you split 2 aces and one of them gets a 10 thats not considered a blackjack is it?

  6. Kinetic says:

Dealers play Aces the same as we do, either an 11 or a 1. It just depends on the hand total. As for the split ace receiving a 10, no, it does not count as a “Natural” blackjack and you do not receive 3:2 pay out, but now you have a hand of 21 which is impossible to lose.

  7. tony says:

anthony, the dealer can use the ace however he wants, 1 or 11. and if u split ur cards with 2 aces and gets a 10 its not a blackjack.
