The charts that you have available to download differ from the chart you are speaking about in this video, specificly in a-8 vs 6. Was wondering if charts are out of date or what the deal was. thx
Brad,
Good question. The chart in the video is for a H17 game (where dealers hit a Soft 17). The chart we provide on the site is for a S17 game (where dealers stand on a Soft 17). That’s why there’s a few differences. Find out what game you play locally, and you should start with that version of Basic Strategy.
Sorry for the confusion.
Yesterday the “Basic Stratergy – Hard Totals” video wasn’t working. But I can watch that one now. Today, I cant watch this one. Are they still being added?
The problem has been fixed and you can now watch it. Sorry for the confusion.
In regards to the 1st question: I guess you guys aren’t going to upload the Basic Strategy version that you review in your video? Is A-8 vs 6 the only difference between H17 and S17?
Anthony,
Use this basic strategy chart. It is designed for H17 but it is the chart to begin with. There are other differences between H17 and S17 in Basic Strategy and you can see the differences by looking at our DEVIATION CHARTS. Once you have mastered our Basic Strategy chart then move on to either the S17 deviation chart or the H17 deviation chart depending on what type of game you are going to be playing.
I would like to know, that if you follow basic strategy 100%, what’s the chances of winning? Because you can never be 100% sure. Can you???
Stephanie- Following basic strategy 100% will not make you a winning player in the LONG RUN. It’s important to put this perspective on blackjack. For playing an hour on the weekend, it’s impossible to correctly predict whether you will win or lose. Variance always plays it’s roll in the short run. But playing basic strategy perfectly over the course of hundreds of hours of blackjack, you will finish down approximately .5% depending on the game.
Question relating to the thread (Kinetic says: May 31, 2010 at 2:42 pm) Kinetic say “But playing basic strategy perfectly over the course of hundreds of hours of blackjack, you will finish down approximately .5% depending on the game.” It seems like this is a loosing game so why play for hundreds of hours only to loose money? Doesn’t make sense to me? Can someone form blackjackapprenticeship.com please explain.
If the basic strategy charts tells you to hit when dealt A4 against a Dealer 10 and you hit but then recieve another 4. Do you follw the rule for the A8? Also do you STAND since you are not able to double?
My last comment makes no since because the scenario would never happen if you are playing correct basic strategy but what I want to know pertains to the same concept if the Player has A2 an the Dealer shows up card of 2 you hit. Then if you recieve a 5 do you follw the basic for A7 and STAND since you are not able to Double?
It is a losing game if you are not counting cards. That is why casinos make money off of everyone else.
Correct. Play it as the soft hand. Follow the charts.
